the opportunity
I had the opportunity to explore packaging design and apply problem-solving skills through this project. My task was to develop packaging for a product along with a cohesive brand guideline book. Through this project, I aimed to test my ability to conceptualize and create a unified, visually appealing package and brand design, adhering to the standards set by the FDA and USDA.
I created Pinch. Pinch aims to create ease for new chefs, creating a space for experimentation, growth, and delicious food.
the process
To develop a consistent and realistic brand, I developed a brand story to humanize this product, and build a personality I can base my designs off of: At Pinch, we believe that cooking is like peeling back the layers of an onion – an adventure in discovery. Our spice starter kit is your first step into this journey, designed to cut through the pressure of learning a new skill. Just as peeling an onion reveals its hidden depths, our curated selection of spices unlocks the essence of culinary creativity, one pinch at a time. Let Pinch be your guide as you peel back the layers of cooking, revealing the vibrant flavors and endless possibilities within.
The results
This package highlights the brand concepts while advertising the Flavor Fundamentals pack and additional conceptualized packs from Pinch. The hexagonal design, with a central opening revealing the spices, is both sturdy and visually appealing, holding six spices (about 4 lbs) securely. Pinch’s brand story enhances the design by showcasing my storytelling skills and connecting each element to inspire exploration through cooking. The whimsical voice and cohesive imagery create an inviting experience that benefits both the company and the consumer.
